Our story begins in 1991 at Our Price in Northamptonwhat a year to be selling records?

Mark was already working towards black belt status in the world of buying and selling records, Simon joined as Christmas staff… bands were playing every week in the Racehorse and the Irish Centre and we all had long hair.

Our Price was a very happy little family and a very exciting time – we got the buzz for finding and sharing new and old music: beautiful and heart-rending; groovy and sparse; discordant and euphoric… it has been a lifelong joy!

Mark worked at the original Spinadisc Records in Northampton for 8 years as main buyer – this was when Spinadisc was THE record shop and many of us shared those seminal hours flicking through vinyl and CDs and chatting with like-minded weirdos. Simon did a couple of Christmases at Spinadisc too…

Mark spent the next 8 years working for Pinnacle Distribution, bringing all sorts of goodies from 400 independent labels to the South of England, before the decline in music sales led Pinnacle closing and many, many independent record stores going out of business – including Northampton’s beloved Spinadisc.

Flip forward to 2019 – the record industry is in rude health and our passion for new music remains undimmed… the hair isn’t as long but we are still finding new music, still going to sweaty backrooms to watch new bands and old, still getting that thrill when the needle drops.

Lightbulb moment - why don’t we sell records? We love records, we can sell music, we know a lot (and we want to learn a lot more)… so we now bring you Spinadisc Records – for Northampton and the UK.

We promise to give you everything we can and everything you want – we can recommend, we can source, and when we are out of lockdown we can rock up at your barbecue with a couple of boxes of records and a card reader (seriously!)

Please give us a shout - hopefully we will all be able to see each other again soon at a record fair, alternative market or pop-up store… take care - we look forward to seeing you soon!

Peace and love,

Simon and Mark
